Cancellation of the unjustified tax assessment for 2025 was secured

As a result of a desk tax assessment conducted by the tax authority in relation to income earned in 2025, a tax liability of AZN 3,881.42 arose on 22 June 2026.
Following a review of the assessed tax liability, the information, income and other tax indicators submitted for 2025 were analysed in detail. The review established that the tax liability arising from the desk assessment was not adequately justified.
To resolve the matter, complaint letters were submitted to the tax authority, together with explanatory documents and other supporting information demonstrating that the assessment was incorrect. The submitted documents provided detailed explanations of the actual income data for 2025 and the circumstances that had resulted in the unjustified tax liability.
In addition, a direct meeting was held with the tax authority to provide a more detailed explanation of the matter and ensure that the submitted information was taken into consideration. During the meeting, the 2025 income, submitted documents and calculations made as part of the desk assessment were explained in detail, and the lack of justification for the resulting tax liability was further substantiated.
With the assistance of tax specialist Azer Gasimov, our employee Raci Aslanov provided the necessary explanations regarding the matter, challenged the desk assessment based on the submitted documents, and requested the cancellation of the resulting tax liability.
As a result of the work carried out, the documents submitted, the explanations provided and the direct meeting with the tax authority, the AZN 3,881.42 tax debt was fully cancelled on 9 September 2026.

This outcome once again demonstrates the importance of timely reviewing desk tax assessments, properly analysing the information submitted by taxpayers, and submitting timely and well-grounded objections to unjustified tax assessments.
