Central Bank of Azerbaijan Reserves Reach Historic Highs

According to data released by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), official foreign exchange reserves stood at $15.3013 billion at the end of August.
Thus, within just one month, the Central Bank’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $62.1 million, or 0.4%.
The increase is significantly larger compared with the end of 2025. On December 30, 2025, the CBA’s official foreign exchange reserves stood at $11.5149 billion. This means that during the first nine months of 2026, reserves increased by $3.8485 billion, or 33.4%.
Increase of more than $4 billion in one year
A significant increase was also recorded year-on-year. At the end of September 2025, the Central Bank’s official foreign exchange reserves stood at $11.3105 billion. By the end of September 2026, the figure had risen to $15.3634 billion. Thus, over the past year, the CBA’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $4.0529 billion, or 35.8%.
Rapid growth in 2026
The monthly figures released by the CBA show that reserves increased rapidly in 2026, particularly during the second half of the year.
While reserves stood at $11.5635 billion at the end of January, they had already reached $13.7679 billion by the end of July and $15.3013 billion by the end of August.
Although the pace of growth slowed significantly in September, reserves rose to a new historical high of $15.3634 billion.
Compared with the end of January 2026, the increase amounted to $3.7999 billion, or 32.9%.
