A new regulation regarding the payment of customs duty will be implemented

A new regulation regarding the payment of customs debt will be implemented.
This is reflected in the amendment to the Customs Code approved by President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Code, customs debt may be paid by persons who owe calculated customs payments or by those who have provided a guarantee using the methods specified in Article 258.1 of the Customs Code.
Customs payments that may arise from the transportation of goods across the customs border by individuals for non-commercial purposes may be paid by individuals who are not business entities, as well as by persons bearing obligations under guarantees provided in accordance with the methods set out in Article 258.1 of the Code.
It should be noted that, according to Article 258.1 of the Customs Code, the following forms of guarantees may be used to ensure the payment of customs debt:
- pledge (collateral);
- bill of exchange surety (aval);
- bank guarantee;
- transfer of the amount payable to the deposit account of the customs authority;
- insurance contracts;
- third-party surety;
- advance payments.
