The salary system in Azerbaijan is changing

“Transition to an hourly wage system in Azerbaijan is not excluded.”
Draft laws on remote work and hourly pay have begun to be submitted to the government, MP Vugar Bayramov said.
According to him, the practice of a minimum hourly wage is applied in many countries:
“Given that discussions on this matter have been ongoing in Azerbaijan for quite some time, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population has also been studying and discussing the possibilities of introducing this practice. The implementation of a minimum hourly wage is important in terms of allowing citizens to work in multiple jobs and earn higher incomes. Experience from other countries shows that such a system contributes to an increase in salaries, especially for employees working under labor contracts.”
The MP noted that this would also allow citizens who work on weekends, holidays, or after regular hours to earn income at higher rates.
“At the same time, it is important from the perspective of protecting workers’ social rights. Ultimately, this means payment for every hour worked. Therefore, introducing a similar practice in Azerbaijan would be appropriate. The ongoing discussions and analyses indicate that a transition to an hourly work system in Azerbaijan is not excluded.”
