When will the minimum wage be increased?

“Recently, most of the questions addressed to us have been about when the minimum wage will be increased.”
This was stated by Member of Parliament Vugar Bayramov.
He noted that according to the amendments made to the Labor Code, the minimum wage amount will be reviewed at least once a year:
“This means that regular increases in the minimum wage will now be ensured. At the same time, these increases will be regulated by law. An increase in the minimum wage affects not only low-income employees but also leads to salary increases across all levels of the unified tariff scale. In sectors financed by the state budget, employees’ official salaries will be adjusted to the new minimum wage level and increased within one month after the rise.
This includes non-civil servant employees working in social services, science, culture, youth and sports, agriculture, ecology and environmental protection, housing and communal services, transport and communications, irrigation, water management, and fish farming sectors.
Under the unified tariff scale, salaries are determined across 19 grades. Currently, the minimum salary is 400 manats, while the highest is 1,150 manats. Regular increases in the minimum wage will practically apply to all grades. Whether a salary is below or above the minimum level is not especially important in this context. Overall, an increase in the minimum wage could lead to salary increases for around 700,000 citizens.
As for when the increase may happen, the amendments to the Code were approved by the head of state on February 23, 2026. Following these amendments, the minimum wage must be reviewed at least once a year. This means that within one year from the approval date, the minimum wage will be reviewed and increased at least once. In some years, there may even be multiple increases. It is especially important to note that after the next increase, the process is expected to become even more regular.”
