January 29, 2025 will be a non-working day
The next municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on January 29, 2025 (Wednesday). In this regard, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov announced at the meeting of the body today.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the requirements of the Election Code, municipal elections are scheduled by the Central Election Commission. The relevant decision in this regard is officially published at least 60 days before the voting day. Unlike other elections, municipal elections are announced by the Central Election Commission.
According to Article 105-1 of the Labor Code, the day of voting during the elections of deputies of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, members of municipalities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as during a referendum, is not considered a working day in the territory where the election (referendum) is held. Therefore, January 29, 2025 will be considered a non-working day.
It should be noted that for the purpose of calculating the working time norm for 2024, until its official announcement, December 23, 2024, was conditionally taken into account in the production calendar as a non-working day for the Municipal Elections. Therefore, December 23, 2024, was also confirmed as a working day in connection with the appointment of the elections.
