Who is entitled to social leave?
Working women are entitled to 126 calendar days of paid maternity leave (70 days before childbirth and 56 days after childbirth).
If childbirth occurs later than the expected date, the prenatal portion of the leave is extended with pay by the number of delayed days, while the postnatal leave remains unchanged.
Women who adopt a child under two months of age are also entitled to the 56-day paid postnatal social leave.
Fathers are entitled to 14 calendar days of paid leave before and after childbirth, upon submission of a certificate issued by a medical institution.
One of the parents directly caring for the child (including an adoptive mother), or another family member, is entitled to partially paid social leave to care for the child until the child reaches three years of age, with an allowance paid in accordance with the legislation.
