Who will benefit from income tax exemptions starting next month?
Which citizens working in the private sector will be covered by these tax exemptions?
According to the Code, an overall tax exemption of 200 manats is applied to all salaried employees:
“That is, if a citizen works in the private sector and earns a salary of 1,000 manats, starting next month the income tax they pay will amount to 24 manats (1,000 manats – 200 manats × 3 percent).
At the same time, higher exemption amounts have been determined for certain categories of citizens. The taxable monthly income from any salaried employment of parents, spouses, and children of individuals who have been granted martyr status is reduced by 800 manats. This means that if such citizens working in the private sector earn up to 800 manats, they will not pay any tax at all. If they earn 1,000 manats, they will pay only 6 manats in tax (1,000 manats – 800 manats × 3 percent). The same exemptions also apply to heroes of the Patriotic War and national heroes.
For veterans, that is, persons with war-related disabilities, as well as citizens who have been granted the title of ‘War Veteran’ in accordance with the law, 400 manats are deducted from their income. This means that starting next year, if their salaries in the private sector are at the level of the minimum wage, they will not pay any tax. If they earn 1,000 manats, they will pay 18 manats in tax (1,000 manats – 400 manats × 3 percent).”
“The legislation also provides certain tax exemptions for citizens with first-degree disabilities, internally displaced persons, and several other categories of citizens. At the same time, considering the increase in the average monthly salary levels in the country in recent years, it would be appropriate to review and increase the exemption amounts,” the MP noted.
