Today is a shortened working day in Azerbaijan.
According to “AZE Finance”, this is reflected in Article 108 of the Labor Code.
May 9 is celebrated as Victory Day over Fascism.
Under the legislation, on pre-holiday days that are not considered working days, the duration of the workday is reduced by one hour regardless of the number of working days in the week.
According to the Code, employees are paid wages for work performed on public holidays that are considered non-working days.
In addition, at the employee’s request, a worker who has worked on a rest day, voting day, public holiday, or national mourning day may be granted another day off instead of additional pay.
At the same time, if the salary payment day coincides with a rest day, voting day, national mourning day, or a non-working public holiday, the salary must be paid on the preceding day.
It should also be noted that since May 9 — Victory Day over Fascism — falls on Saturday, Monday, May 11, will also be a non-working day. Thus, May 9, 10, and 11 will be three consecutive days off.
