As in 2023, this year, changes were made to the working days and monthly working hours of the last month of December in connection with the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year holiday. The questions received from human resources specialists regarding the production calendar of 2024 and the working hours norm for December were classified into 3 groups.
Question 1. What will be the working days in a five-day work week in December 2024?
The working hours norm and production calendar for 2024 were approved by the decision of the Board of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 15, 2023, No. 3-17/3-5-42/2023. When the production calendar of 2024 was approved, the number of working days in December was determined as 20 working days. Since the municipal elections were expected to fall on December 23, 2024 in the production calendar, that date was considered a non-working day. However, since the municipal elections were scheduled for January 29, 2025, December 23, 2024 is now considered a working day. However, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on changing the places of working days and days off is not considered an imperative norm for employers working in a six-day working week. Therefore, no changes are planned for employees who work a six-day workweek. For employees working a six-day workweek, the number of working days in December will be 25 days instead of 24 due to the lack of municipal elections.
